James Gunn is an American filmmaker who began his career as a screenwriter with Tromeo and Juliet (1996). He transitioned to directing with the horror-comedy Slither (2006) and gained prominence in the superhero genre with Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), followed by its sequels and The Suicide Squad (2021). In 2022, Gunn was appointed co-chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios, where he has been instrumental in shaping the DC Universe, including Superman (2025). His notable works also include the web series James Gunn's PG Porn (2008–2009) and the HBO Max series Peacemaker (2022–2025).
