Jake Gyllenhaal is an American actor who made his film debut in City Slickers (1991). He gained prominence with his performances in October Sky (1999) and Donnie Darko (2001). Gyllenhaal starred in the science fiction disaster film The Day After Tomorrow (2004) and received critical acclaim for his roles in Denis Villeneuve's thrillers Prisoners (2013) and Enemy (2013). He earned BAFTA nominations for his performances in Nightcrawler (2014) and Nocturnal Animals (2016).
