Jacob Vargas is a Mexican-American actor who began his career after being discovered breakdancing at a young age. His film debut was in the TV movie The Children of Times Square (1986), and he gained recognition through roles in various films such as American Me (1992), Selena (1997), and Traffic (2000), the latter of which earned him a Screen Actors Guild Award. Vargas also starred in the cult classic Next Friday (2000) and has had significant television roles in series like Mr. Iglesias and Marvel's Luke Cage. He won the first ALMA Award for Emerging Artist of the Year for his performances in Mi Vida Loca (1993) and My Family (1995). He appeared in Beyond Skyline (2017).
