Issa Rae is an American actress, writer, and producer who co-created and starred in the HBO series Insecure (2016–2021). She first gained prominence through her YouTube series Awkward Black Girl (2011–2013) and authored the bestselling memoir The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl in 2015. Rae's film credits include The Hate U Give (2018), Little (2019), The Photograph (2020), Vengeance (2022), and Barbie (2023). She also voiced Jess Drew / Spider-Woman in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023). Rae has received several accolades, including the Peabody Trailblazer Award and the Producers Guild of America Visionary Award.
