Ian Holm is an English actor who won a Tony Award for his performance as Lenny in The Homecoming (1967). He began his career on stage with the Royal Shakespeare Company before transitioning to film and television, where he enjoyed significant success. Holm received multiple accolades, including two BAFTA Awards and nominations for an Academy Award and two Emmy Awards. His notable film appearances include Alien (1979), The Aviator (2004), and The Madness of King George (1994). Holm also portrayed the elderly Bilbo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, as well as voicing Chef Skinner in Ratatouille (2007). He was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1989.
