Ian Charleson was a Scottish actor known for his role as Eric Liddell in the Oscar-winning film Chariots of Fire (1981). He also portrayed Rev. Charlie Andrews in the film Gandhi (1982). Charleson had a distinguished career on stage, performing in productions such as Guys and Dolls, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and Hamlet.
