Hurd Hatfield is an American actor who portrayed Dorian Gray in The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945). He made his film debut in Dragon Seed (1944) alongside Katharine Hepburn and later gained fame for his role in the Oscar Wilde adaptation. Despite the acclaim for his performance, Hatfield felt that it typecast him, stating he regretted the role. His other notable films include The Diary of a Chambermaid (1946), King of Kings (1961), where he played Pontius Pilate, and El Cid (1961). In addition to his film work, he received an Emmy Award nomination for his performance in The Invincible Mr. Disraeli. Hatfield's career spanned both film and television.
