Helen Slater is an American actress and singer-songwriter who starred as the title character in the 1984 film Supergirl. She appeared in several notable films such as The Legend of Billie Jean (1985), Ruthless People (1986), The Secret of My Success (1987), and City Slickers (1991). Slater also made guest appearances on the television series Smallville from 2007 to 2010 and returned to the Supergirl franchise in the 2015 TV series as Eliza Danvers, the adoptive mother of the titular character. In addition to her acting career, she has released three albums featuring her own songs and piano performances.
