Helen Horton is an American actress who voiced the ship's computer, "Mother", in the film Alien (1979). She had a brief career in New York before moving to the UK, where she worked extensively in television, radio, and theatre. Horton was well-regarded in the drama department at Northwestern University, where she starred as Viola in a production of Twelfth Night alongside her friend Patricia Neal. She also took over the role of Blanche in A Streetcar Named Desire during its UK tour. Her film credits include The Razor's Edge (1984).
