Harold Ramis was an American filmmaker who directed the comedy Groundhog Day (1993). He gained recognition for his roles as Egon Spengler in Ghostbusters (1984) and Russell Ziskey in Stripes (1981), both of which he co-wrote. His notable directorial works include Caddyshack (1980) and Analyze This (1999). Ramis was also the original head writer for the television series SCTV and contributed as one of three screenwriters for National Lampoon's Animal House (1978). He left a significant mark on the comedy genre throughout his career.
