Gwen Verdon is an American actress and dancer who won four Tony Awards for her performances in musical theater. She gained prominence on Broadway during the 1950s to 1970s, originating roles in productions like Damn Yankees and New Girl in Town. Verdon worked with her second husband, director-choreographer Bob Fosse, on works such as Chicago and All That Jazz. She transitioned to film with roles in The Cotton Club and Cocoon, and also appeared in the movie Nadine (1987). In addition to her acting career, Verdon received three Emmy nominations and was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 1981. She won a Grammy Award for the cast recording of Redhead.
