Gulzar is an Indian poet, lyricist, musician, composer, and film director who began his career as a lyricist in the 1963 film Bandini. He collaborated with music directors R. D. Burman and A. R. Rahman, and directed the films Aandhi and Mausam. His writing includes poetry, dialogues, and scripts, contributing to Indian cinema and television, including the series Mirza Ghalib. Gulzar has received numerous accolades, including the Padma Bhushan in 2004, the Sahitya Akademi Award, and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. His film credits include Raincoat (2004), Angoor (1982), and Maachis (1996).
