Gordon Tootoosis was a First Nations actor of Cree and Stoney descent who first appeared in the film Alien Thunder (1974). He was a prominent figure in advocating for Aboriginal culture and storytelling, serving as a founding member of the Saskatchewan Native Theatre Company. Tootoosis portrayed memorable characters in various productions, including Albert Golo in the television series North of 60 during the 1990s and Joe Saugus in Auf Wiedersehen, Pet (2002). His notable film credits include Legends of the Fall (1994) and he lent his voice to characters in Open Season and Boog and Elliot's Midnight Bun Run. In recognition of his contributions, he was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2004.
