Gopi Krishna was one of the youngest choreographers in Hindi cinema, starting his career in 1952. He was an accomplished Kathak dancer, actor, and choreographer. His notable works include the classic film Mughal-e-Azam (1960). Gopi Krishna also set a world record for the longest continuous Kathak dance, lasting 9 hours and 20 minutes.
