Gojko Mitić is a Serbian director, actor, stuntman, and author who starred in the Red Westerns produced by GDR DEFA Studios, beginning with The Sons of Great Bear in 1966. He appeared in a total of 12 films in this genre until 1984, which helped shape the portrayal of Native Americans in German-speaking regions. Mitić sought to diversify his career later on, taking on various roles across film, television, and theater, including portraying Spartacus. He also played the character Winnetou at the Karl-May-Festspiele until 2006. Mitić received the Brothers Karić Award in Serbia in 2010. Mitić appeared in Balkan Line in 2019.
