Geraldine Chaplin is an American actress who made her English-language debut in Doctor Zhivago (1965) as Tonya, a role that earned her a Golden Globe nomination. She is the daughter of legendary filmmaker Charlie Chaplin and has had a career in film, including notable performances in Nashville (1975) and Welcome to L. A. (1976), both of which garnered her additional Golden Globe nominations. Chaplin won a Goya Award for her performance in En la ciudad sin límites (2002) and received the Gold Medal from the Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences in 2006. She starred in The Impossible (2012).
