George Sanders was a British actor who provided the voice for the character Shere Khan in Disney's The Jungle Book (1967). His career spanned over four decades, during which he often portrayed sophisticated and villainous roles, thanks in part to his distinctive upper-class English accent and smooth bass voice. Notable performances include Jack Favell in Rebecca (1940), Addison DeWitt in All About Eve (1950), for which he received an Academy Award, and King Richard the Lionheart in King Richard and the Crusaders (1954). He also played Simon Templar in five films during the 1930s and 1940s. Sanders' work in film and television left a lasting impact on the industry.
