George Kennedy was an American actor who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Cool Hand Luke (1967). He began his career in television westerns during the late 1950s and early 1960s, appearing in series such as Have Gun - Will Travel and Rawhide. Kennedy's film career included notable performances in Airport (1970), The Dirty Dozen (1967), and Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1974). He appeared alongside Leslie Nielsen in The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988). Kennedy lent his voice to the animated film Cats Don't Dance (1997) and his final appearance was in The Gambler (2014).
