Geoffrey Holder is a Trinidadian actor who played Baron Samedi in Live and Let Die (1973). He was known for his height of 200 centimeters (6'6") and his distinctive deep voice, which made a memorable presence in film and advertising. Holder appeared in the 1967 film Dr. Dolittle as William Shakespeare, "Willy," and gained further recognition in the 1982 musical Annie, where he portrayed Punjab. He was a talented painter, art collector, author, and composer, and he choreographed dance pieces for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Holder was married to dancer Carmen De Lavallade, whom he met during the production of Truman Capote's House of Flowers.
