Gene Wilder is an American actor who played Leopold Bloom in The Producers (1967). He began his career on stage before making his screen debut in a television series in 1961. Wilder gained significant recognition for his role as Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) and collaborated frequently with Mel Brooks, including in Blazing Saddles (1974) and Young Frankenstein (1974), the latter of which he co-wrote. He starred in four films alongside Richard Pryor, including See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989). Wilder also directed and wrote several films, such as The Woman in Red (1984). His last acting role was in 2003 on Will & Grace, which earned him an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor.
