Gene Hackman is an American actor who made his credited film debut in the drama Lilith (1964). He won two Academy Awards, first for Best Actor in The French Connection (1971) and later for Best Supporting Actor in Unforgiven (1992). Hackman received additional Oscar nominations for his performances in Bonnie and Clyde (1967), I Never Sang for My Father (1970), and Mississippi Burning (1988). His notable works include Superman (1978), Enemy of the State (1998), and The Quick and the Dead (1995).
