Gena Rowlands is an American actress who received a Silver Bear for Best Actress for her performance in Opening Night (1977). She collaborated extensively with her husband, director John Cassavetes, appearing in ten films together, including A Woman Under the Influence (1974) and Gloria (1980), both of which garnered Academy Award nominations for her. Rowlands also won four Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards during her career. In addition to her notable roles in Cassavetes' films, she appeared in The Notebook (2004).
