Gary Sinise is an American actor who portrayed Lieutenant Dan Taylor in Forrest Gump (1994). His career began in theater with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, where he directed and starred in True West, earning an Obie Award. Sinise has received numerous accolades, including a Primetime Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Tony Award, along with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He founded the Lt. Dan Band to support veterans. Other notable films include Ransom (1996), The Quick and the Dead (1995), and Apollo 13 (1995). Sinise starred as Detective Mac Taylor in the CBS series CSI: NY (2004–13).
