Gary Basaraba is a Canadian actor who portrayed Sergeant Richard Santoro in the television series Brooklyn South. He has a notable history of playing American police officers, including Officer Ray Heckler in Boomtown. His film credits include roles such as Heywood Broun in Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle (1994), Sheriff Grady Kilgore in Fried Green Tomatoes, and Homer Zuckerman in the remake of Charlotte's Web. Basaraba has also appeared in Sweet Dreams and One Magic Christmas, where he played Jack Grainger. He has made multiple appearances in the Law & Order franchise and has been featured in the Canadian series Mixed Blessings. Basaraba voiced Hefty Smurf in the live-action/CG film The Smurfs.
