Franco Merli is an Italian actor who played Nur Ed Din in Arabian Nights (1974). He was discovered by filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini while working as a petrol station attendant. Merli played one of the male victims in Pasolini's last film, Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom (1975). He also portrayed Fernando, a transvestite prostitute, in Ettore Scola's Ugly, Dirty And Bad (1976). After Pasolini's death, Merli faced challenges in securing roles and eventually ceased acting. His performances remain influential in Italian cinema.
