Essie Davis is an Australian actress who gained prominence with her role in the film Dad and Dave: On Our Selection (1995). She is a graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney and began her career with the Old Nick Company at the University of Tasmania. Davis has appeared in notable films such as The Matrix Reloaded (2003), The Matrix Revolutions (2003), The Sound of One Hand Clapping (1998), and Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003). In addition to her film work, she won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2003 for her performance in A Streetcar Named Desire. Davis also starred in The Justice of Bunny King (2021).
