Emir Kusturica is a Serbian filmmaker who won the Palme d'Or at Cannes twice for his films When Father Was Away on Business and Underground. Kusturica's film Life Is a Miracle features a reconstructed historic village, Drvengrad, which he created in the Mokra Gora region of Serbia. Other notable films include Time of the Gypsies (1988) and Black Cat, White Cat (1998). He also directed Balkan Line (2019). Kusturica has been honored as a Commander of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
