Edward James Olmos is an American actor, director, producer, and activist who portrayed Lieutenant Martin 'Marty' Castillo in Miami Vice (1984–1989). He has played significant roles in various films and series, including Jaime Escalante in Stand and Deliver (1988), William Adama in Battlestar Galactica (2004–2009), and Detective Gaff in Blade Runner (1982) and its sequel Blade Runner 2049 (2017). Olmos also lent his voice to Chicharrón in Coco (2017) and appeared in 2 Guns (2013). His performance in Stand and Deliver earned him nominations for both a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for Best Actor. He won a Primetime Emmy Award for his role in Miami Vice.
