Edward Bunker was an American author and actor who wrote the script for and starred in Straight Time (1978), adapted from his debut novel No Beast So Fierce. He also wrote the screenplays of Runaway Train (1985) and Animal Factory (2000), the latter based on his second novel. Bunker had a minor role in Reservoir Dogs (1992). His early life was marked by a series of criminal activities, leading to multiple incarcerations before he turned his focus to writing and acting after his final release in 1975. He passed away in 2005.
