Edward Binns was one of the first members of the Actors Studio, where he began his studies under Elia Kazan in 1947. He transitioned from Broadway to film in the early 1950s, featuring in significant roles such as Juror #6 in 12 Angry Men and Lieutenant General Walter Bedell Smith in the Oscar-winning film Patton (1970). Binns also appeared in Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest as a police detective and played Colonel Grady in the 1964 film Fail-Safe. His television credits include appearances in shows like The Twilight Zone, Perry Mason, and M*A*S*H. Binns lent his distinctive voice to numerous radio and television commercials.
