Édgar Ramírez is a Venezuelan actor who portrayed Carlos the Jackal in the miniseries Carlos (2010). He began his career in acting after receiving encouragement from filmmaker Guillermo Arriaga, shifting from a background in communications and media. Ramírez played a CIA assassin in The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) and a CIA operative in Zero Dark Thirty (2012). He also starred as boxer Roberto Durán in Hands of Stone (2016) and received acclaim for his role as Gianni Versace in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story (2018). In 2020, he appeared in the HBO miniseries The Undoing. Ramírez won the César Award for Most Promising Actor for his performance in Carlos.
