Ed Wynn is an American actor and comedian who starred as the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland (1951). He gained fame for his Perfect Fool character and was a pioneer in radio during the 1930s. Wynn hosted one of the first network comedy-variety shows on CBS, winning a Peabody Award and an Emmy Award in 1949. He transitioned to dramatic acting later in his career, with notable performances in Requiem for a Heavyweight (1956) and The Diary of Anne Frank (1959), the latter earning him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Wynn also appeared in The Twilight Zone.
