Doris Dowling is an American actress who made her film debut in The Lost Weekend (1945) as Gloria. Following her initial success, she starred in The Blue Dahlia alongside Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake. Dowling later moved to Italy, where she featured in notable films such as Bitter Rice and appeared in Orson Welles's Othello in 1952 as Bianca. Upon returning to the United States, she focused on theater and television, with appearances in series like Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Bonanza, and The Dukes of Hazzard. In 1973, she received an Outer Critics Circle award for her role in a Broadway revival of The Women.
