Dorian Harewood is an African American actor who first gained prominence for his role as Simon Haley in the miniseries Roots: The Next Generations. He has appeared in notable films such as Full Metal Jacket (1987) and The Jesse Owens Story (1984), and had a significant part in the television series Strike Force. Harewood received the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for his performance as Clarence "Cool Papa" Charleston in the NBC series I'll Fly Away. He also featured in the film Gothika (2003).
