Dody Goodman was an American character actress who played the mother of the title character in the television series Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. Her distinctive high-pitched voice announced the show's title at the beginning of each episode. Goodman's career included frequent appearances as a guest on The Tonight Show during the 1950s and a role in The Mary Tyler Moore Hour in 1979. In addition to her work in film and television, she voiced Miss Miller in the series Alvin and the Chipmunks and its spin-off, The Chipmunk Adventure. Goodman also appeared in Punky Brewster as Punky's teacher. She was featured in Grease 2 in 1982.
