Djimon Hounsou is a Beninese-American actor who gained significant recognition for his portrayal of Cinqué in the film Amistad (1997). He made his film debut in Without You I'm Nothing (1990) and has since appeared in notable films such as Gladiator (2000), Blood Diamond (2006), and Captain Marvel (2019). Hounsou has received two Academy Award nominations, one for Best Supporting Actor for In America (2004) and another for his role in Blood Diamond. He also starred in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) and A Quiet Place Part II (2021). Hounsou won the National Board of Review Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Blood Diamond.
