Derek Tsang Kwok-Cheung is a Hong Kong film director and actor who made his acting debut in Men Suddenly in Black (2003). He began his career in the film industry under the guidance of director Peter Chan Ho-Sun after completing his studies at the University of Toronto Scarborough in 2001. Tsang co-directed Lover's Discourse (2010) with Jimmy Wan Chi-Man, earning a nomination for a Golden Horse Award for Best New Director. His solo directorial work, Soul Mate (2016), received critical acclaim and was nominated for Best Film at the 36th Hong Kong Film Awards. Tsang's film Better Days (2019) was the first submission by a native Hong Kong director for the Academy Awards' Best International Feature Film category. He is married to actress Venus Wong Yik-Man.
