Dennis Hopper is an American actor and filmmaker who directed and starred in Easy Rider (1969), a film that won an award at the Cannes Film Festival and earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. He made his film debut in Rebel Without a Cause (1955) and later appeared in Giant (1956) alongside James Dean. Throughout his career, Hopper took on notable roles in films such as Apocalypse Now (1979), Blue Velvet (1986), and Speed (1994), where he portrayed a villain. He received critical acclaim for his performance in Hoosiers (1986), which also earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Hopper began his work as a photographer in the 1960s.
