Denise Burse is an American actress who portrayed Claretha Jenkins in the television series Tyler Perry's House of Payne. She trained professionally at the Just Us Theatre, The Alliance Theatre, and The Atlanta Children's Theater. Burse's extensive television work includes roles in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Her stage credits feature productions such as An American Daughter, Harriet’s Return, and Pearl Cleage's Flyin' West. In 2016, she appeared in the Black Mirror episode "San Junipero." Burse appeared in The Wrath of Becky in 2023 and will appear in The Home in 2025.
