Dan Butler is an American actor and playwright who portrayed Bob "Bulldog" Briscoe on the television series Frasier. He gained recognition for his stage work, including his performance in Terrence McNally's play The Lisbon Traviata and for writing the Off-Broadway play The Only Thing Worse You Could Have Told Me..., which reflects on his experiences coming out. In film, he appeared in The Silence of the Lambs (1991) and Sniper 2 (2002). Butler openly discussed his sexuality on Entertainment Tonight in 1994, during his time on Frasier. He is in a relationship with acting teacher and director Richard Waterhouse.
