Curtis Vowell

Curtis Vowell is a Cook Island Maori director who made his feature film debut with Fantail in 2013. This film received eight nominations at the New Zealand Film Awards and premiered internationally at the Rotterdam International Film Festival, also being selected for the Melbourne International Film Festival where it won a People’s Choice award. His second feature, Baby Done, released in 2020, was produced in collaboration with Taika Waititi and Piki Films, featuring Rose Matafeo and Matthew Lewis. Vowell has also directed the New Zealand hospital drama Shortland Street since 2020. He worked on the film Krampus in 2015.
