Cloris Leachman was an American actress and comedian who won eight Primetime Emmy Awards from 22 nominations, making her the most awarded actress in Emmy history. Her breakthrough came with the role of Phyllis Lindstrom in the influential CBS sitcom The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1970–75), for which she received two Emmy Awards. Leachman also starred in the spin-off series Phyllis (1975–77), earning a Golden Globe Award for her performance. Her film credits include The Wedding Ringer (2015) and The Croods: A New Age (2020). In addition to her Emmy wins, she received an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, and a Golden Globe Award during her extensive career.
