Cillian Murphy is an Irish actor who made his professional film debut in the 2001 adaptation of Disco Pigs, after initially performing the role in the 1996 play. His early film work includes notable performances in 28 Days Later (2002), Intermission (2003), and Red Eye (2005). Murphy has collaborated extensively with director Christopher Nolan, portraying Dr. Jonathan Crane / Scarecrow in The Dark Knight Trilogy and leading the cast in Oppenheimer (2023). He gained further recognition for his role as Tommy Shelby in the series Peaky Blinders (2013–2022) and starred in A Quiet Place Part II (2020). In 2011, he received the Irish Times Theatre Award for Best Actor for his performance in the play Misterman.
