Christopher Reeve is an American actor who portrayed Superman in Superman (1978). Reeve also appeared in Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987) and was involved in various aspects of filmmaking as a director, producer, and screenwriter. After a tragic equestrian accident in 1995 left him a quadriplegic, he became a prominent advocate for spinal cord injury research and founded the Christopher Reeve Foundation.
