Charles Grodin was an American actor and comedian who starred in The Heartbreak Kid (1972). He began his career in the 1960s, appearing in television series such as The Virginian, and had a notable role in Rosemary's Baby (1968). Grodin's performances included comedies such as Seems Like Old Times (1980), Ishtar (1987), and Dave (1993). He co-starred in the action comedy Midnight Run (1988) and the family film Beethoven (1992). After a hiatus from acting in the mid-1990s, he returned with roles in Louie and While We're Young (2014). Grodin received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special in 1978.
