Casper Van Dien is the only actor to portray Tarzan while filming in Africa and riding an African elephant in the Warner Bros. production Tarzan and the Lost City (1998). He gained prominence for his leading role in Paul Verhoeven's sci-fi classic Starship Troopers (1997), which has garnered a significant cult following. Van Dien appeared in Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow (1999) as Brom Bones and starred in The Pact (2012), which received positive attention at Sundance. His other notable works include Beyond The Wave (2015) and ISRA 88 (2016). In addition to acting, he has directed three films, with Patient Killer winning awards for best film and best director.
