Carol Kane is an American actress who received an Oscar nomination for her role in Hester Street (1975). She gained prominence in the 1970s with performances in films like Annie Hall (1977) and Ishtar (1987). Kane is known for her television work, notably as Simka Gravas on the series Taxi, for which she won two Emmy Awards. Additionally, she portrayed Madame Morrible in the Broadway musical Wicked from 2005 to 2014. Her recent film credits include The Dead Don't Die (2019) and Migration (2023). Kane was also a main cast member in the Netflix series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, playing Lillian Kaushtupper.
