Carl Lumbly is an American actor who portrayed the first black superhero on television in M.A.N.T.I.S. He played Dick Hallorann in Doctor Sleep, NYPD detective Marcus Petrie in Cagney & Lacey, and CIA agent Marcus Dixon in Alias. Lumbly voiced J'onn J'onnz / Martian Manhunter in the DC Animated Universe, including Justice League and Static Shock. He played M'yrnn, J'onn's father, in the Arrowverse series Supergirl from 2017 to 2019. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he appears as Isaiah Bradley in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021) and Captain America: Brave New World (2025).
