Buddy Guy is an American blues guitarist and singer who has influenced the genre, inspiring artists such as Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. He gained prominence in the 1960s while performing as a session guitarist with Muddy Waters at Chess Records and formed a notable partnership with blues harmonica player Junior Wells. Over his career, Guy has received eight Grammy Awards, a Lifetime Achievement Award, the National Medal of Arts, and the Kennedy Center Honors. He is recognized as the 27th greatest guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone magazine in 2023. His autobiography, When I Left Home: My Story, was published in 2012. He appeared in the film Sinners (2025).
