Brit Marling is an American writer, producer, director, and actress who co-wrote and co-directed the documentary Boxers and Ballerinas (2004). After graduating as valedictorian from Georgetown University with degrees in economics and studio art, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film. Marling gained further recognition for her work in the 2011 films Sound of My Voice and Another Earth, both of which were presented at the Sundance Film Festival, with Another Earth winning the Alfred P. Sloan Prize. She appeared as Richard Gere's daughter in Arbitrage (2012) and starred in The East (2013) alongside Elliot Page and Alexander Skarsgård. Marling worked on Star Trek: Starfleet Academy (2026).
